Story
Goats and sheep graze together beside a flowing river, resting beneath steep cliffs and the drooping branches of willow trees, all rendered in soft, earthy tones that suggest a calm pastoral setting. The work is painted in ink and color on silk by Shen Nanpin, a Chinese painter of the Qing dynasty who lived from 1682 to 1760. It belongs to his Album of Birds and Animals and is held at the Phoenix Art Museum.
