A Courtesan and Her Kamuro

Story

Two robed figures stand together on a wooden platform. One looks outward while the other tilts her gaze upward, their garments rendered in black ink enriched with touches of yellow and gold. The composition suggests a courtesan accompanied by a young attendant. Suzuki Harunobu, a Japanese artist born in 1725 and died in 1770, worked within the ukiyo-e tradition, producing nishiki-e prints noted for their delicate color printing.
