The Second Month

Story

Three figures in traditional dress gather near a red wooden structure, one wielding a long pole while another steadies a large drum, their postures suggesting a lively performance frozen mid-motion. The scene appears in a color woodblock print titled The Second Month. It was made by Suzuki Harunobu (1725–1770), a Japanese artist working in the nishiki-e and ukiyo-e traditions, who also practiced as an illustrator and xylographer.

Where it works
