Story

Rings of circles nest within one another across the surface, surrounded by angular, patterned shapes rendered in a dotted field. The palette moves through pale tones, earthy browns, muted purples, and golden ochres, built up through countless small dabs of paint. The work is untitled, made by Uta Uta Tjangala (1926–1990), an Australian painter whose dot painting reflects Aboriginal artistic tradition.
