Story

A quiet horse training ground spreads beneath drooping willow branches, with a red tower rising among curved rooftops rendered in soft earthen hues. This woodblock print was made in 1857 by Utagawa Hiroshige, part of his One Hundred Famous Views of Edo series depicting Bakuro-cho. Hiroshige worked within the Utagawa school amid Kasei culture, and the print is now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
