Story
Rows of blossoming fruit trees stretch across the canvas, their pale flowers set against a line of tall, dark cypresses standing guard at the orchard's edge. The scene glows with warm yellows and fresh greens, while cool blues shade the sky and shadows, giving the whole composition a bright, lively rhythm. This piece was painted in 1888 using oil, and it now belongs to the collection of the Yale University Art Gallery. The artist, Vincent van Gogh, is known for his painting The Starry Night. Looking closely, the contrast between the soft, rounded blossoms and the sharp, upright cypress forms draws the eye from the gentle orchard floor up toward the vertical trees, creating a sense of movement and quiet tension between nature's delicate bloom and its enduring, steady presence in the landscape.
