Story

Against a deep, dark backdrop, clusters of circles, lines, and angular shapes drift in red, green, yellow, blue, and pink, overlapping in a dense, buoyant arrangement that feels suspended rather than grounded. The piece is an oil composition completed in 1939, carrying the energy of pure abstraction. Wassily Kandinsky (1866–1944) worked within Expressionism and the Bauhaus, and he is also known for his earlier Composition VII.
