Story

Circles, triangles, and jagged lines interlock across the sheet in blue, yellow, black, and earthen tones, their textured surfaces and crisscrossing edges suggesting energy rather than any recognizable scene. This color lithograph was created in 1922 by Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian artist whose life spanned 1866 to 1944. His work connects to Expressionism, Symbolism, and the Bauhaus, and he is also known for Composition VII.
