Story

A dense array of geometric shapes and curving organic lines pushes diagonally across the picture, rendered entirely in black and white with no color to soften the contrasts. The composition balances sharp angular fragments against rounded forms, creating a sense of restless movement. This is a woodcut made in 1922 by Wassily Kandinsky (1866–1944), a Russian artist associated with Expressionism and the Bauhaus.
