Story
Jagged forms and curving silhouettes scatter across the page, rendered in black, blue, orange, brown, pink, and cream, their arrangement pulling the eye through a restless, patterned field. The piece is a color woodcut made in 1913, part of a print titled Weisser Klang from the Klänge series. Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian artist associated with Expressionism, created this work, which entered the Yale University Art Gallery through the B.A. 1901 Fund.
Where it works
