Story
A peacock with sweeping, elongated tail feathers spreads across the composition, rendered in cool blues and greens, promoting Charles Scribner's Sons. The bird's plumage curls and fans outward, filling much of the frame with ornamental rhythm. This lithograph dates to 1895 and was made by William H. Bradley (1868–1962), an American artist. His work here reflects the Art Nouveau movement, favoring stylized, decorative natural forms over strict realism.
