The Red Canoe

Story

A lone figure rests in a red canoe beside a fallen log at the water's edge, while mountains and trees mirror themselves in the still blue surface. The quiet scene suggests a calm pause along a remote shoreline. Winslow Homer, an American painter, illustrator, and photographer who lived from 1836 to 1910, worked within the realism movement, and his notable work includes A Country Lad.

Where it works
