Story

A woman dressed in a blue patterned kimono sits plucking a stringed instrument, a cat cradled gently in her other arm. Behind her, blossoming branches curve near brushed calligraphy, giving the scene a quiet, domestic air. The piece is a color woodblock print titled Te-ike no hana, meaning Hand-picked flower. It was made by Yanagawa Shigenobu II (1820–1859), a Japanese ukiyo-e artist also known for Nansō Satomi Hakkenden.
