Story

Green stems rise against a pale blue backdrop, their red pitcher-shaped flowers curling like open mouths among leaves built for trapping prey. A purple-pink bloom adds a softer note amid the carnivorous forms, giving the composition an eerie, botanical tension. Rendered in watercolor and acrylic on paper in 2022, the piece comes from Alexis Rockman, an American painter born in 1962 associated with pop art.

Where it works

Suited to kitchens and kids' rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
