Story

A flounder floats against a deep black field, its body rendered nearly see-through so that inner structures emerge in streaks of blue, green, and red, as if the creature's anatomy were laid open for study. The piece is built from acrylic on black paper, completed in 2013. The artist, Alexis Rockman, born in 1962, is an American painter associated with pop art.
