Story

A single bee hangs in flight over a thick cluster of yellow dandelion blooms, their green stems rising against a dark blue-green backdrop. The composition fills most of the surface with the flowers, leaving little open space beyond the insect's hovering form. Painted in oil on wood in 2005, the piece comes from Alexis Rockman, an American painter born in 1962 associated with pop art.

Where it works

Suited to kitchens and kids' rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
