Story

Red, orange, and yellow poppies crowd the edges of the composition, seen from below so their petals open outward against a wide blue sky. The flowers form a natural frame around that patch of color, drawing the eye upward through the stems and blooms. Made with watercolor and acrylic on paper in 2022, the piece comes from Alexis Rockman, an American painter born in 1962 associated with pop art.

Where it works

Suited to living rooms and kids' rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
