Story
Curved, organic forms drift across the surface in yellow, green, black, and rust, hinting at shapes drawn from nature rather than depicting them directly. The piece is a mixed media work made in 1942 by Arthur Dove, an American painter and draftsperson who lived from 1880 to 1946. It entered the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art as a gift from William C. Dove, part of a portfolio of sketches numbered among twenty-four.
Where it works
Suited to living rooms and kids' rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
