Story
Organic shapes drift across a dark blue background, rendered in yellow, green, red, and tan, with winding lines threading between the forms. The piece was made with mixed media and watercolor on wove paper in 1942 by Arthur Dove, an American draftsperson and painter born in 1880 and died in 1946. It entered the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art as a gift from William C. Dove.
Where it works
