This picture, titled Heidelberg, was made around 1895 to 1897 in oil on canvas on hardboard, and it is held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, which acquired it through purchase. The artist, E. Phillips Fox, lived from 1865 to 1915, worked within Impressionism, and also made the notable painting Nasturtiums. One detail worth noticing is how the wooden fences lead the eye across the grass toward the stream and the far-off buildings, giving the land a sense of gentle depth under the pale sky.
