Rain Clouds

Story

A hazy scene of hills and water unfolds under heavy, clouded skies, washed in gentle tones of blue, yellow, and white that blur the line between land and air. The piece was made with watercolour on paper in 1845. Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851), a British artist associated with English painting and Romanticism, captured the atmosphere with soft, loose washes rather than sharp detail.

Where it works

Cool-toned artwork suited to living rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
