Story
A fleet of sailing ships with tan sails pushes through choppy waves beneath a pale, hazy sky rendered in muted earth tones, the vessel at center tilting as it meets the swell. The scene is painted in oil, dated 1844. It is the work of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851), a British painter associated with Romanticism and English painting.
