Story
A young woman in Renaissance clothing cradles a small ermine against her arm, her figure set apart from an enveloping dark background. Her skin tones, the blue of her garment, and touches of red stand out through careful oil work. The portrait, painted in oils on wood in 1488, comes from Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519), an Italian artist associated with the High Renaissance.
