Fog, Thames Embankment

Story

A hazy riverscape unfolds along the Thames, its moored boats and a distant skyline softened by mist. On the right stands a brick building, the whole scene painted in subdued beige and gray tones that blur the line between water, sky, and shore. Rendered in oil on paperboard in 1884, the work comes from Tom Roberts, an Australian painter associated with the Heidelberg School.
